Singapore Expos Max Atria to offer high performance wi-fi

ASIA – Singex Venues, which manages convention and exhibition facility Singapore Expo, says its new meeting wing, which opens in early 2012, will be the first and only event facility in Asia to use a patented high-speed internet wireless connectivity.

The new event space, Max Atria @ Singapore Expo, will include the patented Arrays technology created by Xirrus, providing full Wi-Fi coverage across the wing. Singex claims business events at MAX Atria will be more environmentally sustainable by using this technology.

Certified Green Mark Platinum by Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority, the energy- and water-efficient MAX Atria is built with eco-friendly furnishing materials, so that every event’s carbon footprint can be managed responsibly. By deploying Xirrus Arrays around MAX Atria, energy consumption will also be lower than before.

Managed by Singex Venues, MAX Atria will feature 32 column-free rooms on two levels with a garden courtyard and rooftop space. It could host more than 3,500 people at various conferences, meetings, banquets, light exhibitions and product launches spread over 12,700sqm of space at the same time.

Each Xirrus Array can support up to 200 concurrent users at a bandwidth of 2mbps, and the deployment is scalable as the number of events and delegates increase.

“With business event delegates becoming increasingly connected, using multiple devices and accessing various data, video and voice applications at any given time, Wi-Fi coverage alone is not enough to ensure all these gadgets can function properly,” said CEO of Singex, Aloysius Arlando. “Delegates are logged on to laptops to either download seminar presentations or post videos onto online event portals. They could also be Tweeting the latest happenings from the conference using their smartphones.”
