UBM acquires US event Online Marketing Summit

AMERICAS – UBM has bought Online Marketing Summit (OMS), a US online/digital marketing conference from Online Marketing Connect on behalf of UBM TechWeb.

Established in 2007, the annual conference in San Diego serves the fast-growing online and digital marketing sectors, covering the shift from traditional marketing to technology-powered, defined ROI marketing. Areas of focus include measurable methodologies such as SEO/SEM, pay-per-click, email marketing, community management and social media marketing.

The acquisition is expected to exceed UBM's cost of capital criterion in its first full year of ownership. In 2011 OMS generated revenues of US$1.1m and the value of the business's gross assets on 16 November 2011 was $200,000.

The conference, which next takes place on 6-10 February 2012, will continue to operate its remaining business in partnership with Online Marketing Connect.

UBM TechWeb CEO Tony Uphoff said the acquisition extends UBM’s global reach in serving online marketers worldwide.

“The conferencewill expand UBM TechWeb's ability to serve the digital marketing community both through our professional conferences and our rapidly growing marketing-as-a-service business,” he commented.
