Cosmoprof Asia nets greater international crowd

ASIA - International attendance Cosmoprof Asia, UBM’s beauty trade event for the Asia Pacific region, has increased by 14 per cent.

The event, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 9-11 November 2011, is now in its 16th edition spanning 68,000sqm of exhibition space, up 18 per cent on the 2010 edition.

The event brought 1,780 exhibitors (up nine per cent on 2010) from 42 countries and regions, of which 477 were first-time exhibitors.

But UBM claims the increase in international visitors, now standing at 30,000, is one of this year’s most impressive statistics, with attendees from Australia, Brazil, mainland China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Middle East, Russia, Turkey and USA.

“It’s very encouraging to see the general growth of visitor attendance particularly from the international side in a time of uncertain economy,” said executive VP of UBM Asia, Michael Duck. “Exhibitors come to have access to the widest access to buyers from across the region as well as international buyers from Europe and the Americas who come to view new ideas and  meet new manufacturers.”

The economic benefits of Hong Kong’s exhibition industry have risen by nearly a fifth, according to the latest report from professional services firm KPMG Transaction Advisory Services.
