UBM Live launches pharma outsourcing brand in USA

AMERICAS - UBM Live has introduced its event International Contract Services Expo (ICSE) to the USA.

The event, to be held on 22-23 May 2012 at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre in Philadelphia, focuses on the pharmaceutical contract services and outsourcing sectors in the US market.

According to UBM, the introduction of ICSE USA is a direct response to feedback from 60.2 percent of ICSE Europe 2010 visitors, who said that the North America region is the strongest target for business development over the next three years.

Typical exhibitor profiles include companies specialising in custom manufacturing, biotechnology, clinical trials, IT services, contract research, drug discovery, laboratory services, logistics services, marketing services and R&D.

“As US companies race against the expiration of blockbuster drugs, there has been a huge push towards the development of biosimilars and biologics to fill the needs of the market,” said global brand director of ICSE Haf Cennydd. “Coupled with the introduction of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Acts, which highlight the need to make quality pharmaceuticals more accessible to all citizens, all of these factors have created a massive drive for R&D in the US market.”

The event will run simultaneously with Pharmapack North America, a new event hosted by UBM and focusing on drug devices, delivery systems and packaging solutions, as well as East Pack which offers the premier industry resource for East Coast packaging and manufacturing sectors. The events will also be collocated with Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East.

Despite tough market conditions, the US remains the largest pharmaceutical market in the world, accounting for 39 per cent of the total US$795bn generated by the pharma industry each year. According to UBM, it is expected to continue to grow at an average rate of five per cent annually, leading to a market value of $399bn in 2015.

UBM’s ICSE events now take place in Mumbai, India; Tokyo, Japan; Shanghai, China; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Madrid, Spain.

UBM launches a new edition of its CPhI pharmaceutical ingredients show for the South East Asian region in Indonesia next year.
