Ambiente taps Danish design talents

EUROPE – Consumer goods trade fair Ambiente has signed up Denmark’s creative talents as its official design partner.

The exhibition, to be held next February at Messe Frankfurt (pictured), will have its Scandinavian neighbour as a partner country.

The Danish Design Centre, based in Copenhagen, will present the highlights of its country's design and is planning a special 'Denmark Day' to run at the event. The nation has brought the expertise of Eva Solo, Menu A/S and Stelton to the international design market.

A presentation titled 'Solutions', curated and conceived by British designer Sebastian Bergne, will be another new addition for next year’s event, offering new materials and design aspects for cooking, wining and dining.

Ambiente 2012 is already fully booked and runs from 10 to 14 February, spanning 330,000sqm of exhibition space. Last year 4,458 exhibitors presented an international range of products including tableware, kitchen, home, furnishing and gifts.

In June, Messe Frankfurt said its international business reached a new high in 2010 at approximately €114m (US$162m).
