Diversified partners with Alimentaria for Spanish seafood launch

SPAIN – Diversified Business Communications has partnered with Alimentaria Exhibitions to launch Seafood Barcelona, to take place in Autumn 2012.
 
Running at Fira de Barcelona, the new show will focus on bringing buyers and sellers together from Spain and Southern Europe.
 
Other seafood events organised by Diversified include the European Seafood Exhibition in Brussels, the Asian Seafood Exhibition in Hong Kong and the International Boston Seafood Show. Alimentaria Exhibitions organises Alimentaria events in Barcelona, Lisbon and Mexico City.
 
“Barcelona is the perfect location to hold a fair that brings all aspects of the seafood and seafood processing industry,” said Alimentaria Exhibitions deputy MD Antonio Valls.
 
Organisers hope the inaugural edition next year will host 300 companies and high-level seafood buyers.
 
Spain is the world’s third largest manufacturer of canned seafood, and data provided by the Ministry of the Environment and Rural Marine Affairs shows that seafood is consumed in 70 per cent of Spanish households. Consumption rates are approximately 2.2kg per capita per month.
 
Over the next two years, Diversified plans to launch shows in India, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Canada, the USA and the Netherlands.
