EEAA says UFI report displays Asia-Pacific resilience to market crash

AUSTRALIA – The Exhibition and Event Association of Australia (EEAA) is claiming the recent UFI barometer survey demonstrates the Asia-Pacific region’s resilience to the global financial crisis.

The statement follows last week’s 7th Global Barometer Survey compiled by global exhibition industry association UFI, which indicates the exhibition business in the Asia-Pacific region has largely recovered from the worldwide downturn. In the study, 65 per cent of respondents claim they have now put the crisis behind them.

The results point to the resilience of the exhibition market and highlights its importance as a marketing channel, according to the EEAA.

“This is good news for our part of the world and underscores how exhibitions are a legitimate and vital channel for investment, because they deliver results,” said EEAA general manager Joyce DiMascio, pictured.

“While most growthis being driven out of China, the general return to more buoyant conditions in our region is a welcome sign that our industry remains a major focus for marketing activity and company investment.”

According to UFI’s survey, the trade fair industry in Asia expanded by 4.3 per cent in 2010, while net area sold by organisers in Asia reached a total of 15.5m sqm - nearly double that since the first edition of the report was published in 2004.
