Salon de Gourmets marks 25th anniversary with growth

SPAIN - The 2011 edition of international fine food and beverage fair Salon de Gourmets, held at IFEMA Madrid on 12-14 April, has recorded an increase in both exhibitors and visitors.

Exhibition space increased by 5.1 per cent, according to an external audit, while six-and-a-half per cent more exhibitors took stands at the event (totalling 1,210). Almost 78,500 visitors from 67 countries attended the 2011 show; an increase of three percent on the 2010 event.

The event’s net exhibition space, excluding activities, was 18,231sqm.

This year foodstuffs accounted for 62.1 per cent of exhibitors, with beverages 27.6 per cent and combinations of the two and other sectors making up 6.9 per cent and 3.4 per cent accordingly.

"The high interest in specialised delicatessen food and beverages products, along with the 25 years of history, has helped grow Salon de Gourmets into a leading trade fair," said Myriam Lopez, of organiser Grupo Gourmets.

Earlier this year Informa Exhibitions entered the Brazilian food and beverage market with the acquisition of Brasil Trade Shows Partners Participacoes (BTS), an organiser of trade shows in the food and beverage services.
