Not-for-profit marine expo to launch in Australia

AUSTRALIA - Several Australian boating industry representatives have joined forces to launch a new not-for-profit boat show in the country’s north.

The Gold Coast Marine Expo will be held from 4 to 6 November and stretch across 36 hectares within the Gold Coast Marine Precinct in the Queensland town of Coomera. Exhibitors will include local and international boating companies, manufacturers and services providers.

The show is being developed by the Queensland boating industry and is being branded as the country’s first working boat show. Gold Coast Marine Expo spokesperson Stephen Milne said visitors will be able to participate in factory tours showcasing the construction process.

Hundreds of new and brokerage sail and power will be exhibited within the marine precinct on land and on the marinas of the Coomera River.

“The Marine Expo will be an interactive and entertaining event where people can take a look behind the scenes and see first-hand the boat building process from design through thevarious stages to the finished product. We’ll also have boat repairs, refurbishing and practical demonstrations by the experts in their field,” Milne said.

“It is great to see a real spirit of co-operation and support from the major boat companies and the wider industry to make this event a real success.”

In addition, the organisers will put on a wooden boat festival within the main event including international food stalls with a range of cuisine and a VIP invitation-onlyevent.

Gold Coast Marine Expo organisers confirmed Boatpoint.com.au as the launch show’s official media partner. There is no ticket charge but visitors will be asked to make a gold coin donation.

A recent survey conducted by the Australian Government reported an 11 per cent rise in business visitors to the country during Q1 of 2011.
