AUSTRALIA – Jon Hutchison, current CEO for Australian convention bureau Business Events Sydney (BES), will step down from his role effective 1 July 2011.
Because the BES board has not confirmed a permanent successor, it has agreed instead to appoint Lyn Lewis-Smith as acting CEO, a position she will assume in addition to her current role of BES chief operating officer. Lewis-Smith will begin her new role on Monday 4 July 2011, and maintain it for an as-yet undefined period.
Lewis-Smith has served eight years at BES.
“The board has the utmost confidence that Lewis-Smith will provide ongoing, focused leadership to the BES team, and maintain the impressive momentum of the business through this exciting period of change that is ahead of us,” said a BES spokesman.
BES recently announced the details of an AU$7bn (US$7.1bn) infrastructure development programme.
