ITE plans India expansion, evaluates otherpotential markets

WORLD - International organiser ITE, a specialist in the emerging markets, will expand its Indian presence this year with new construction and food exhibitions while investigating moves into new emerging markets.

However, ITE chief executive Russell Taylor told EW no definite decision had been made regarding which specific country would be the company’s next target.

“I think there are plenty of opportunities in our existing markets, particularly Turkey and India where we wish to build stronger market positions. After that, I would like to think we could expand into at least one more emerging market, though where that is will really be determined as much by opportunity as planning,” he said.

“In India we see a market we expect to be much bigger in the future. We made an initial investment to establish a local office from which we could launch our main brands, and this year will see the launch of a construction event and a food event in India.”

He added that observing how the exhibition industry grows in mature markets gives ITE the advantage of being able to predict emerging market trends.

“I think we’re lucky in that we have a chance to look and see how the exhibition industry is changing in more mature exhibition markets, and then to apply that knowledge and get there more quickly in our emerging markets,” he said.

ITE reported strong revenue and profit growth in last month's interim results.
