Centaur events revenue strong in 2011

WORLD - Centaur Media has reported an increase in year-on-year events revenue in the first four months of the year.

According to the company’s interim management statement, events revenue was up four per cent for the four months to 30 April 2011, buoyed by its two largest exhibitions, Business Travel Show and National Homebuilding and Renovating. Both exhibitions delivered eight per cent aggregate revenue growth despite challenges in their respective markets, Centaur said.

Across its broader business, Centaur reported advertising revenue growth of 10 per cent led by digital advertising results. The company’s Perfect Information division, which provides digital information to the corporate advisory sector, also continued to generate steady growth, with revenues up six per cent ahead in the four months to 30 April compared to eight per cent growth in the first half.

In the medium-term, Centaur reiterated its commitment to growing and reshaping the group with a larger emphasis on digital revenues and paid content as well as internationally recognisable event brands. The company hopes to increase its share of revenues derived from international markets to 25 per cent.

“The outlook for the remaining two months of this financial year is positive and the Board believes the Group will trade in line with its expectations for the current financial year,” the company stated.

Centaur reported a 15 per cent increase in second-half revenue into 31 December 2010 to £27.5m (US$44.79m).

Centaur acquired expat information and events business Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) for £2.5m in April. The business has been integrated into Centaur’s specialist HR portfolio and is trading in line with expectations.
