Middle East predicts $90bn in airport developments

UAE - Countries in the Middle East plan to spend US$90bn on new airports and expansion projects.

According to Reed Exhibitions Middle East, organiser of the Airport Show 2011 in Dubai, the investment will go towards building new airports and developing the region’s 1,200 existing international, domestic and defence airports.

Major investment projects underway in the UAE include the development of Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport ($8bn), Concourse 3 at Dubai International Airport ($1.17bn), and Abu Dhabi International Airport ($6.8bn).

The Airport Show 2011 takes place from 31 May to 2 June at Dubai’s Airport Expo.

Also in the UAE, the fourth edition of the World Future Energy Summit 2011 has seen a six per cent rise in visitor attendance on last year.
