Vancouver International Boat Show to reopen

CANADA - The Vancouver International Boat Show is due to run this month for the first time in two years after cancellation of the 2010 edition.

Recreational boating companies in the province of British Columbia hope the show will boost the industry, which was severely affected by the recession.

The 2011 show is expected to attract 300 exhibitors. The 2010 show was initially postponed until after the Olympics, but eventually cancelled due to the reconstruction of BC Place’s roof.

The show will run from 9 to 13 February at the Vancouver Convention Centre, with an in-water display area at False Creek Yacht Club.

Last year, Vancouver Convention Centre began seeing signs of recovery after years of declining delegate days. It also hopes to draw more Asian business with a partnership with Suntec Singapore.
