Concrete expo sees numbers dwindle

USA – Hanley Wood Exhibitions, organiser of the World of Concrete Expo in Las Vegas, has reported a decline in visitor numbers to its 2011 event.

The show ran from 18 to 21 January at the Las Vegas Convention Centre. Overall attendance dropped to 48,500, down 12 per cent on last year. Net space fell 14 per cent to 48,000sqm.

“Even though the numbers are slightly down from 2010,” said World of Concrete director Jackie James. “We have found that a majority of our exhibitors are actually getting quality leads and making more sales at the show.”

Hanley Wood believes some visitors and exhibitors are holding out for the triennial Conexpo-Con/Agg show which takes place in Las Vegas in March.

Last year saw construction shows launch in Turkey, India and Oman. Also, the International Erbil Trade Fair in Iraq reported almost double the number of exhibitors on the previous year.
