Record attendance for World Future Energy Summit 2011

UAE - The fourth edition of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2011 in Abu Dhabi has seen a six per cent rise in visitor attendance year-on-year.

The four-day event, which included a summit and two exhibitions on the latest technologies and innovations in renewable energy and the environment, was attended by over 26,000 delegates from 137 countries (unaudited).

The Reed Exhibitions’ summit was attended by international leaders and experts as well as over 2,500 school and university students from across the UAE.

The attendees included 3,150 international dignitaries, delegates, members of media and participants who attended the Opening Ceremony, which included a keynote address from the Secretary General of the United Nations, HE Ban Ki-Moon.

“The event continues to grow year-on-year and its success is testament to Abu Dhabi’s determination to become the global platform for effective dialogue on renewable energy and clean technology,” says the group exhibitions director at Reed Exhibitions, Ara Fernezian. “It is encouraging to see such an increase in attendees from such a wide range of countries this year. Indeed, over 30 per cent of attendees came from outside the UAE, making it our most international WFES to date.”

Canada, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Luxemburg, Portugal, China, France, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA and the UK all exhibited with national pavilions.

The World Future Energy Summit 2011 took place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 17-20 January 2011.
