Major building materials fair launches in Turkey

TURKEY – A new exhibition titled the MegaBuild Eurasia Building Materials Fair is to be launched at CNR Expo Istanbul this year.

The exhibition, organised by CNR Trade Fairs and the Association of Turkish Building Material Producers (IMSAD) will span 120,000sqm, with participation from 25 professional associations and more than 1,000 exhibitor companies.

A spokesmen for the event, due to take place on 8 to 11 September, said the exhibition’s priority markets are the infrastructure, housing, and commercial construction sectors in the Middle East, Gulf Countries, Africa and Central Asian Turkish States, as well as the People’s Republic of China and Brazil.

The international construction materials market is expected to grow on average of 5.5 per cent, and reach a volume of US$1,750bn by 2012.

As the European Capital of Culture, Istanbul and the surrounding region is an area in development overdrive. Turkish contractors have completed more than 5,000 projects in 81 countries around the world made more than US$155bn between 1972 and 2009.

The Turkish construction materials and construction sectors are expected to grow more than 10 per cent in the next five years.
