UBM Asia appointed consultant of Thailand BOI 2011

THAILAND - UBM Asia (Thailand) will act as special consultant for Thailand’s BOI 2011, an event the organiser expects will be one of the biggest trade fairs ever organised in South East Asia.

It will be the third time the Thailand Board of Investment has organised the exhibition, and the second time UBM Asia has been chosen to manage the project. The previous event was held in 2000 and attracted more than 4.5 million visitors.

For 2011, UBM has allocated a full-time team to work with the BOI Fair Co-ordination Office at Board of Investment headquarters, a move that takes into account UBM’s expanded role this time around.

Not unlike a Worlds Expo national pavilion, the exhibition is designed to give government and private sectors an opportunity to collaboratively demonstrate the potential of Thai industry to outside investors and businessmen, showcasing products from the technology, manufacturing and agricultural sectors, among others.

Commenting on the event, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said the Fair would not only improve Thailand’s image around the world, but also “raise Thai people’s confidence in their own future”.

The event will be held from 10 to 25 November at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center in Muang Thong Thani.

The Thai Exhibition Association recently claimed space at its exhibitions should increase by 10 per cent next year if local political problems ease.
