Bartle Hall sees rough start to 2011

USA – Kansas City Convention Center’s Bartle Hall exhibition venue has had a rough start to 2011 with the cancellation of several major shows.

The 2011 Mid-America Boat Show has been cancelled due to poor economic conditions and an ‘unsettled’ regional marine market, after running for 50 years. The Kansas City Pet Expo has also been cancelled, and the Mid-America RV Show is shortening from two weeks to one.

Boat Show organiser Pat Riha of Pat Riha Productions said he is “very optimistic” for his other 2011 consumer tradeshows, but said the city’s decision to raise user fees on tickets to 50 cents has damaged ticket sales.

The Mid-America Boat Show was due to take place over two weekends including 15-17 and 22-24 January at the Bartle Hall in Kansas City.

Also in the United States, the 2011 edition of the US Air, Trade and Technology Expo has also been cancelled.
