Government initiatives to boost manufacturing expo

AUSTRALIA – Victoria’s new State Government, led by Premier-elect Ted Baillieu, could help raise the profile of Reed Exhibitions’ National Manufacturing Week (NMW) by helping the State’s manufacturing sector.

As part of his election campaign, Baillieu committed his Government to a AU$1bn (US$998m) regional growth fund for investment in local skills and industries, and a $800m grant to boost manufacturing jobs in the Geelong region.

“As NMW 2011 takes place in May, the Baillieu Government’s rollout of policies and programs to support Victoria’s $30bn manufacturing sector will be gaining momentum,” said NMW’s exhibition manager, Paul Baker. “No doubt Victoria, our host state for the event, will welcome these initiatives, and the 10,000-plus participants of NMW 2011 will be watching to see their strategies for helping manufacturers thrive.”

Reed Exhibitions this month announced the acquisition of two lifestyle expos, Life Instyle and accompanying Kids Instyle and First Instyle.
