UBM Canon launches India and Brazil medical events

WORLD - International event organiser UBM Canon is moving two of its medical manufacturing events into India and Brazil.

Running in Mumbai from 19 to 20 October 2011, MEDTEC India will feature a technical conference and an exhibition of 100 international suppliers, with the aim of tapping into India’s US$1.9bn medical manufacturing sector.

The inaugural Medical Design and Manufacturing Brazil event will take place in Sao Paulo in June 2012, featuring a conference and an estimated 300 suppliers. Brazil’s medical manufacturing sector is valued at $2.6bn and produces nearly 90 per cent of the medical devices used in the country.

“There has been a very strong response to these new products from our exhibitors,” said UBM Canon’s senior VP Kevin O’Keefe, “many of whom are already active in these fast-growth markets.”

Canon Communications was acquired in 2010 by United Business Media, which changed the company’s name to UBM Canon.
