Builders hope IBS will settle at Orange County

USA - The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is bringing the International Builders’ Show (IBS) to Orlando next year to begin a two-year run at the Orange County Convention Center.

The last two outings of IBS held in Las Vegas were strapped for cash, taking place at a time when economic difficulty dealt the US homebuilding industry a significant blow. As a result they were forced to cut the event’s exhibit space in half between the years 2007 and 2010. The show covered 46,250sqm in 2010.

Senior VP of exhibitions, marketing and sales for NAHB Mark Pursell believes that despite continued stress on the housing industry, IBS 2011 is will hold steady with 50,000 attendees.

“It will still be a big event by any measure,” said Pursell. “We have gotten smarter in how we put the show together, market it and get people together with one another when they get here.”

BIS takes place on 12-15 January.

Executive director of the Orange County Convention Center, Tom Ackert, will serve as secretary/treasurer of the Exhibition Industry Foundation (EIF) for 2011.
