Brisbane CEC to host Australian Mens Shed conference

AUSTRALIA – The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre is to host the Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) national conference and trade exhibition, Men’s Sheds: Building Communities, 21-23 August 2011.

The Men’s Sheds initiative focuses on the “needs of men, their health, wellbeing and their communities”. There are currently over 450 ‘sheds’, representing an estimated 40,000 men. The non-for-profit AMSA is the largest men’s support organisation in Australia.

Men’s Sheds: Building Communities is expected to attract over 400 delegates, generating an estimated AU$650,000 (US$649,000) worth of economic impact for the city. The 2011 conference will be hosted by the Queensland Men’s Shed Association (QMSA) and will contribute to the $170m of economic value that business events bring to Brisbane each year.
