UFC and Reed tag-team Canucks with new fan expo

CANADA – The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Reed Exhibitions are to follow their Las Vegas fan expo with a new event in Canada.

The first-ever official UFC Fan Expo in Canada will run from 29 to 30 April 2011 at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto.

The launch follows successful UFC Fan Expo events in Las Vegas, Boston and London.

Now, following Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty’s announcement that the provincial government would allow regulated mixed martial arts events to take place in the province, UFC will bring the expo to Canadian fans alongside a major UFC event next year.

“It’s been our goal to bring a major UFC event to Toronto for a long time,” said UFC president Dana White. “The fans in Ontario are amazing and we want to give them a weekend they won’t forget. With the UFC Fan Expo and the card we are putting together, Ontario is in for an incredible weekend.”

UFC Fan Expos give fans the opportunity to learn about the sport and meet competitors face-to-face. As with most fan exhibitions, activities running as part of the exhibition include autograph sessions, training and development seminars, fan-inspired special events and competitions, as well as demonstrations of various fighting techniques.

Organisers of the Toronto event hope to attract more than 150 exhibitors occupying approximately 28,000sqm and offering apparel, electronic gaming, food and beverages, fight gear, fitness equipment and nutritional supplements.
