Rusbridge dismisses Reed Exhibitions sale talks

WORLD – Reed Exhibitions chairman Mike Rusbridge has told EW’s US partner publication Trade Show Executive (TSE) that there is “no substance” to claims of a possible sale of its £1bn exhibitions division.

Dismissing the discussions that allegedly took place between Cinven and Emap owner Apax, Rusbridge described British reports as “rumour” that had quickly faded away.

The Telegraph newspaper was one of several publications that claimed Reed was in talks about selling Reed Exhibitions, the largest trade show organiser in the world with 440 events in 36 nations.

Despite struggling in the recession, Rusbridge told TSE that Reed planned to launch 80 exhibitions around the world over the next two years.
