Minneapolis CC completes solar array

USA – The Minneapolis Convention Centre’s 2,613-pane solar array has been completed and is up ahead of schedule.

The array is connected directly to the venue’s internal electrical system, and will produce an estimated 150,000 kWh of electricity per year, offsetting approximately 539 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

“The completion of the largest solar electricity array in the upper Midwest is another milestone on the road to fulfilling the vision of Minneapolis as a fully sustainable city,” said Minneapolis mayor Raymond Thomas Rybak.

The Salt Palace convention and exhibition centre in Salt Lake City, Utah, is set to unveil the largest array of solar panels in the USA by January 2011.
