Indian, Sharjah leaders open new expo space

UAE – Indian president Pratibha Patil and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the UAE Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah, have together opened the Indian Trade and Exhibition Centre at the Sharjah Expo Centre.

The 1,900sqm centre is planned to promote trade exchange between India, Sharjah and the UAE in general.

The next Middle East Open Seminar to be run by UFI, the association for the international exhibition industry, will take place at Expo Centre Sharjah in March 2011. Director-general of Expo Centre Sharjah, Mr Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, said the event “underscores our Emirate’s position as a leading exhibitions hub in the region.”

Expo Centre Sharjah recently held the Middle East Watch and Jewellery Exhibition, which included increased security in light of gem thefts at a similar show in China.
