Alternative awards highlight quirky industry achievement

UK - Mergers and acquisitions specialist Mayfield Media hosted its annual awards ceremony at the K-West hotel in Shepherds Bush last night, highlighting some of the lesser-known achievements on the UK and international exhibitions scene.

Announcing the winners, Mayfield MD Steve Monnington said it was important to celebrate “the unsung victories that were really helping to shape the industry”, adding “It was great to have the opportunity to entertain our friends and colleagues”.

However, there could only be one winner in each category on the night. This year’s exalted are:

Most Wanted: for the company that receives the most approaches for acquisition – Faversham House (Amanda Barnes).

Hot Pursuit: the individual who is most persistent in looking for potential acquisitions – Matt Benyon, Easyfairs

Loose End: the company that most successfully sold their business and then had to work out what to do next – IMP (Clive Ellings, Justin Opie, Graeme Howe)

Non-domestic Goddess: the UK company with the most successful international development strategy – Tarsus (Doug Emslie)

Globetrotter: for the most effective international networking – Eliane Van Doorn (UBM)

Unsung Hero: Nicola Greenaway-Fuller, Niche Events
