McCormick keeps Restaurant Association shows

USA - The National Restaurant Association (NRA) has signed a five-year agreement to hold two events at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

The new contract signed with the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority and the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau states NRA’s Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show and International Wine, Spirits and Beer Event will stay in Chicago through to 2016.

The agreement comes after Illinois legislature passed cost-saving measures to stop exhibitions and conferences from emigrating from McCormick Place to competing venues in Las Vegas, Orlando or Anaheim.

“Along with all that the city of Chicago has to offer,” said NRA president and CEO Dawn Sweeney, “McCormick Place, with the new legislation being implemented, will now provide an exhibitor-friendly, hassle-free and cost-effective facility that makes for an outstanding tradeshow environment.”

The NRA has held the Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show in Chicago for the past 61 years. The event brings around 66,000 exhibitors and visitors to the city.
