IEIA launches second exhibition industry event

INDIA - The Indian Exhibition Industry Association (IEIA) has launched a second event aimed at shining a light on the Indian exhibition industry.

The IEIA Open Seminar will take place at the Leela Palace Kempinski hotel in New Delhi on 24 - 25 March, three months ahead of Manch Communications’ Expo Summit, which is also held in New Delhi.

Event chairman Ashwani Pande told EW the new event is conceived to be “a mirror for the Indian exhibition industry, to show the best possible opportunities to enter into the Indian exhibition industry and service sector”.

A speaker line-up has not yet been released, but Pande confirmed several speakers popular on the international circuit, including some from recent UFI events, would be present.

The move could be seen by some as providing direct competition for the existing – but still young – Expo Summit, run by Manch Communications, which gets it third outing in India in May 2011. An additional Expo Summit in Africa is also being launched by Manch in January next year.

IEIA president Indra Mohan confirmed the new event will complement India’s Expo Summit.

“As a private player, Expo Summit will find it difficult to gain government recognition, but as a non-partisan association the IEIA event can project a combined viewpoint of the Indian exhibition industry,” he said.

India has 55 show organisers and more than 150 tradeshows a year take place every year, the majority being hosted by venues in New Delhi and Mumbai.
