Leighton Wood appointed deputy chief of MCEC

AUSTRALIA – Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (MCEC) Chief Executive, Leigh Harry, has appointed Leighton Wood as his deputy.

Commencing his appointment at the MCEC on 8 November, Wood will provide strategic support in the areas of future business planning with specific responsibility for the planned expansion of the MCEC’s facilities.

Last week, CMW reported the expansion of MCEC’s exhibition space had been approved by the Victorian Labor Government. The development is set to commence in 2012 and be completed by 2014.

Previous to this appointment, Wood has held senior positions at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, Melbourne Major Events Company, Sport Knowledge Australia and the Princess Alexandra Hospital Foundation.
