The US president, Barack Obama, has flagged his support for Reed Exhibitions’ InfoSecurity Europe 2011 trade fair, which takes place at Earls Court in April 2011.
According to a statement, the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) granted Trade Fair Certification to the show, while president Obama expressed his support in a letter to US exhibitors and attendees.
“By opening new markets and promoting trade, we are creating new sales channels for US products and services,” president Obama’s letter stated. “The business relationships developed at this tradeshow will help increase economic growth and create jobs throughout the United States.”
The 16th annual Infosecurity Europe event is scheduled from 19-21 April 2011 at Earls Court and is aimed at information security professionals. Next year’s event is expected to attract 12,400 attendees. Event director for the show, Claire Sellick, was delighted the show was recognised by the upper echelons of US Government.
“Over the years I have seen hundreds of US companies use Infosecurity as the premier gateway to successfully launch into the European market place. As the size of their stand has grown so has the success of their European business,” she said.
International trade advisor for the IT Security sector, Andy Williams, agreed Infosecurity was the single most important trade event for US companies looking to get ahead in the UK IT security market. The U.S. DOC estimates the UK ICT market is currently worth US$150 billion (£95m).
