Moderate growth at ITB Asia

SINGAPORE - ITB Asia has seen a six per cent growth in exhibitor numbers on 2009.

Organised by Messe Berlin (Singapore), the three-day travel trade exhibition brought 720 exhibitors from 60 countries, up from 679 last year.

However, this is below the level of growth predicted earlier in the year. According to travelmole.com, Messe Berlin’s VP Martin Buck said: “When we came here perhaps we were over-optimistic in terms of the growth of the show.”

The inclusion of an association day at this year’s ITB Asia increased the proportion of events travel buyers from 32 per cent to 43 per cent.

Associations working together to organise the day include the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the Centre for Association Leadership, and the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau.
