WORLD EXPO: US Pavilion welcomes its six millionth visitor

USA - The USA Pavilion at Shanghai’s World Expo 2010 has celebrated its six millionth visitor by giving two visitors a USA Pavilion Commemorative Golden Medal as well as other pavilion memorabilia.

Beijing residents Shi Qiuwen and Zhang Xiaowang were welcomed by student ambassadors and staff members at the Pavilion.

"At the start, we anticipated the pavilion would welcome around six million guests over the duration of Expo," said Ambassador Jose H. Villarreal, US Commissioner General. "It gives me great pleasure to announce our six millionth visitor in just five months."

The USA Pavilion has hosted over 45,000 visitors per day on average, and is expected to receive more than seven million guests over the entire duration of the Expo.

Standing at 6,000sqm, the Pavilion is one of the largest national pavilions at the Expo.
