SOUTH KOREA - Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (IIAC) is set to receive a second terminal, following the announcement of its Phase 3 development plans.
The new terminal, which will be 350,000sqm in size, will increase the airport’s annual handling capacity to 62m passengers.
Construction is expected to commence in 2012, following a commissioned study on air traffic demand, design and its telecommunication facilities. Planners are aiming for the project’s completion by 2015.
IIAC officials stress the importance of incorporating low-carbon construction materials and improving the airport’s energy output.
