UBM launches Mumbai jewellery fair

INDIA – United Business Media is launching a jewellery fair in Mumbai at the end of next year.

The Mumbai Jewellery and Gem Fair will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre on 16 to 18 December 2011.

The trade show adds to UBM’s global portfolio of jewellery fairs, which include September’s Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair, and the south Indian shows GJIIE (Gems and Jewellery India International Exhibition) in Chennai, and HJF (Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair). UBM claims the south Indian shows attract over 400 trade exhibitors and 18,000 trade visitors and are growing quickly on the back of domestic growth of more than 40 per cent a year.

"Mumbai city is the richest city and the financial capital of India, it is the gateway for international buyers and sellers to access the market. The jewellery sold here is increasingly matching the requirements of international buyers,” said director of business development – Jewellery Group, UBM Asia, Letitia Chow.

“At the same time, domestic consumers' tastes are becoming more sophisticated. December is the best time to visit India, the weather is very pleasant and there is no rain. More importantly, the timing allows Indian buyers to purchase ahead of the key New Year trading season.”

The Mumbai Jewellery and Gem Fair will connect exhibitors of diamonds, pearls, gemstones, silver jewellery, fine finished jewellery, machinery and equipment, software and related products, packaging and display with jewellery wholesalers, retailers, exporters, importers and jewellery manufacturers.
