jwc GmbH of Germany has been selected through tender to develop the Master Plan for Brussels Expo.

The contract follows the venue’s decision to undertake a major study to develop into a state-of-the-art exhibition and congress facility.

With 115,000sqm of exhibition space, Brussels Expo is the largest exhibition venue in Belgium. It is located close to the world famous Atomium in Brussels.

“We are very pleased about the award, as we believe that with our experience of having conducted more than 20 Master Plans for all type of exhibition/conference centres in the past, in major trade fair countries globally, we can contribute great value to the further development of Brussels Expo,” said jwc CEO Jochen Witt.

The venue in the Belgian capital is host to nearly 50 exhibitions and tradfairs annually, as well as major congresses, concerts, festivals and corporate events. The infrastructure of the halls dates back to 1935 and 1958, respectively, and an upgrade is required for the facilities to reach full potential.

jwc, which advised on the Shenzhen World project, is to assess the market potential for Brussels Expo and support the development of the future strategy. In a second step, jwc will develop the Master Plan for Brussels Expo, applying latest insights into modern venue functionalities, which meet future demands of organisers, exhibitors and visitors.

The Master Plan will focus on quality improvements and will include various phasing options to secure that the running business of Brussels Expo will not be negatively affected by the various measures.
