UK - Clarion Events has renamed the DSEI exhibition as Defence and Security Equipment International to signal the show’s extension into the security sector
Previously called Defence Systems and Equipment International, the organiser says the change reflects the increasing importance of security capabilities to the armed forces, although defence continues to be important to the DSEI proposition.
“At this year’s exhibition, 460 exhibitors; more than a third of the total exhibitor base, declared an interest in security products and technologies and many were taking the opportunity to showcase them,” says DSEI exhibition director Sally de Swart.
She says the move will also build on the relationship DSEI has with UKTI Defence and Security Organisation, which covers both defence and security remits. Many of the international delegations invited by UKTI DSO to the show are interested in both security and defence capabilities, and Clarion says renaming the show will help to maintain the levels of attendance by these delegations.
Clarion is currently in talks with a number of major security organizations regarding new initiatives for the 2011 show, which runs from 13 - 16 September, 2011 at Excel.
