Canada – A legal delay in the sale of DMG World Media’s Canadian gift shows to the Canadian Gift and Tableware Association (CGTA) means DMG will continue to run the shows for another year.
According to both companies, the conclusion of legal aspects surrounding the sale of the show was originally planned for the end of September. However, according to the CGTA’s executive director, Peter Moore, both parties accepted that the timetable was ‘extremely aggressive’ and difficult to complete in time for the next show cycle.
“While we are disappointed a sale has not yet been completed, the board of the CGTA remains committed to acquiring the DMG gift shows as soon as is practical," he said.
DMG will now run the shows for another year to maintain their profile. “The priority now is to ensure that the exhibitors and buyers who attend the regional shows have the best opportunity possible to conduct profitable business,” said DMG World Media executive vice president Alan Steel. “That objective is best served by DMG completing the next show cycle while we continue to finalise our arrangements.”
