Under Phase 7 of the Greece’s reopening plan, which begins 6 June, many more entertainment and leisure activities are set to come back on stream.
Exhibitions and conferences are to be allowed from 1 July based on a specific health-safety protocol.
Greek Deputy Minister of Development and Investment, Nikos Papathanasis, made the announcement on 3 June, noting that indoor dining areas at restaurants will be allowed first, as well as open-air nightclubs, internet cafes and refreshment bars.
Papathanasis said other business activities would be allowed to resume from 1 July, and, together with those sectors coming back from 6 June, would account for around 89,000 jobs or 13% of employees who were placed on furlough during the lockdown.
From 15 June, Greece’s seasonal hotels, gyms, museums and thermal springs are allowed to open up again. Indoor cinemas, casinos, and social centres for the elderly will remain closed.
“We are moving faster and more decisively to lift restrictions thanks to the efforts of all the Greeks,” government spokesman Stelios Petsas said following the deputy minister’s announcements.
