First inward mission to add to proceedings at Scotland’s Trade Fair

The first inward mission to Scotland’s Trade Fair Glasgow will see at least 30 North American and French buyers join UK buyers at the show, which opens on 19 January.

Organisers tell EW that, 10 days out from the show, 578 exhibitors were signed up, matching the previous year’s total.

Mark Saunders, Show Director, says: “Exhibitor numbers have remained steady across all the key product sectors of Textiles & Fashion Accessories, Home & Gift and Food & Drink, with no discernible changes in exhibitor numbers in any of the categories. The exhibitor content is broadly similar to that of 2019.

“The key changes have come in the areas of marketing and features. We host our first inward mission for 20 North American buyers and 10 French buyers to support exhibitors’ export opportunities.

“We are hosting the launch of the Scottish Retail Food and Drink Awards supported by The Times, Sunday Times and The Sun, which is already helping to attract key food and drink buyers from supermarkets and c-stores to develop our food audience beyond speciality stores. The content in our Talking Shop seminar theatre has been revamped to include more digital presentations to support buyers’ online activity and social media as well as selling into the tourist gift sector. The food offering and catering in the SEC [venue] has been completely revamped to improve the quality of catering and the ambience it is served within.”

The Nessie’s Den feature returns for a second year when industry insiders - the Nessies - will give their advice and feedback to selected exhibitors, based loosely on the format of Dragon's Den.

A delegation of buyers will come from NACTA (North American Celtic Trade Association) to source Scottish products.
