Expocast and Mash Media have announced #EventProfs Got Talent 2020 will launch on 3 June to mark Global Exhibitions Day, #GED2020.

Entries are now open to everyone working in the events industry around the world. It is a chance to show your talent, whether you are a singer, musician, comedian, sportsperson, dancer, juggler, fire breather or even a dog trainer.

Those wanting to get involved need to send in a video of them performing their talent, and judges will determine the finalists, who will then have the chance to perform live at the EN Awards in the UK, which will take place in London when it is safe to do so.

Expocast’s Natasha Layal, who came up with the idea, believes the events industry needs some entertainment in light of the anxieties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. She said: “Anyone can enter #EventProfs Got Talent, and from anywhere in the world. Finalists will be invited to attend the EN Awards,  to perform live [subject to lockdown restrictions].

“With lockdown and restricted travel still a possibility for a while yet, this might make it difficult for our international finalists, so we will be prepared for live streaming as a back up.

“I envisage the event becoming truly global in 2021. Here's to some great entertainment, industry bonding and a chance to celebrate Global Exhibitions Day 2020 united.”

Mash Media Portfolio Director Duncan Siegle, who organises the EN Awards, added that it is a good time to bring people together when we are all so far apart. He said: “While we don’t know when events will be allowed to run again, that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to build relationships and have some fun.

“With most people at home under lockdown, it is a great opportunity to reconnect with the events community, and why shouldn’t people perform something that they love. We look forward to seeing the entries and would be delighted to give the finalists the chance to perform live at the EN Awards, be that in person or on screen.”
