Changes to the approach to Covid and public health measures from the Chinese government, as well as a relaxing of international travel restrictions have led organisers of Automechanika Shanghai to secure a new timeslot for the show. It will now be staged 15-18 February 2023 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, having been postponed from its 20–23 December 2022 slot at the same venue. The changes in regulations are due to come into force on 8 January 2023.
Ms Fiona Chiew, deputy general manager of organisers Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, said: “As the automotive industry is a core part of China’s economy and modernisation, we understand the importance of returning Automechanika Shanghai to the trade fair calendar for long-awaited marketing, trade, education and business exchanges. The engagement on AMS Live over the past few weeks reflects these growing needs in the market, which we aim to carry through to the physical show in February. I look forward to reconnecting with all our industry friends soon.”
Recently, the Chinese Government implemented a number of policies to encourage market growth and technological upgrade in the automotive industry. For example, ongoing incentives and tax breaks on sales aim to boost demand, particularly in the new energy vehicle sector. Forecasts for the year ahead indicate 23.8 and 3.8 million passenger and commercial vehicles sales, respectively, and a 35% year-on-year increase in new energy vehicle orders.
Show participants can expect to see the most pressing topics and fast-moving trends in the Innovation4Mobility Showcase during Automechanika Shanghai – Shenzhen Edition. Areas across the fairground will address the rise of electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, advanced technologies, green repair, developments in the logistics industry, and more.
