A-livex confirms new May date in London

A-livex, a one-day exhibition for event organisers which will use hotel rooms as stands, will take place in London on 20 May, organisers Mash Media have confirmed.

The event will take place at Royal Lancaster London, Bayswater Road, on the north side of Hyde Park.

According to the roadmap laid out by prime minister Boris Johnson, 22 February, restricted capacity events will be permitted no earlier than 17 May. As part of Step 3, event indoors for up to 1,000 people, or 50% of the venue’s capacity, whichever is lower, will be legally allowed to take place so long as Covid-secure mitigation is in place, such as the wearing of face coverings and implementation of social distancing.

Three hundred invited guests are expected to attend the unique event, with 50 exhibitors from the events industry already signed up. One hundred visitor places have been filled already.

Time to be brave

Mash Media’s managing director, Julian Agostini, said now was the time to look ahead. “The roll-out of the vaccine across the UK has been one of the great success stories and inspired the nation into a renewed sense of optimism,” he said.

“Therefore, it stands to reason that we should embrace that spirit and get cracking with a live event as soon as we can. Widespread confidence will return pretty quickly, it will just take a few brave organisers to make those first steps. We are ready, and we want to bring people together on those first steps back.”

Agostini added the event’s format might not be conventional, but now was the time to try new things. “I have wanted to try the hotel idea for a long time, so it is a bit of an experiment, but has there ever been a better time to try something new?” he said.

“It will all be Covid-secure, and all guests will be registered in advance.”
