Global full service live events provider GES has secured the new international ISO 45001 accreditation for health and safety. The new standard replaces the ISO 18001 certificate and is designed to increase employee safety and reduce accidents in the workplace.
The ISO requires all accredited companies to migrate to the new standard by March 2021. GES achieved its award 18 months ahead of the deadline. The certification covers each of GES EMEA’s key regional offices in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
Paul Ormbsy, head of health and safety at GES said: “The event industry model often requires fast paced build with a hard deadline on open day. It is essential that we balance the need for efficiency with our very real health and safety responsibilities.
“ISO standards are scrupulously independent, and this accreditation gives organisers, venues and exhibitors confidence in our dedication to the highest possible standards.”
Jason Stead, MD GES Exhibitions added: “We are passionate about health and safety at GES and committed to fostering a culture of safety for our teams, customers and stakeholder. I’m proud for GES to be among the first in the sector to achieve ISO 45001 and encourage the industry to get on board this game-changing initiative.”
