IMPACT educating the new kids on the Thai MICE block

Thailand attracted 38.27m tourists in 2018, according to the national Tourism Ministry, with Chinese travellers being the number one source of visitors.

A big task is to train the cadres needed to boost the country’s business tourism sector.

Now the Human Resources Department of Bangkok’s leading venue company, IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., is collaborating with three top universities in Thailand to spearhead a certificate course, Kla MICE, which translates as “the new kid on the block” in Thai.

The Faculty of Management Science of Silpakorn University has already sent 40 sophomores to train and gain hands-on experience at the IMPACT venue under the new scheme. The students have spent time in multiple departments including Operations, Exhibition Project, Sales Department, Food and Beverage Department, and Corporate Communications where they were able to take part in numerous projects supervised by senior executives and managers.

Kasetsart University and Sripatum University are also next in line to have their students complete the Kla MICE course at IMPACT.

IMPACT Muang Thong Thani has more than 140,000sqm. of floor space and the venue boasts five large multi-purpose buildings, namely IMPACT Arena, IMPACT Exhibition Center, IMPACT Forum, IMPACT Challenger, and The Portal Lifestyle Complex, along with 55 meeting rooms, three ballrooms and two hotels on site.
