Global Ham Congress brings home the bacon in Madrid

Half-congress registrations are part of the new flexible offer for delegates attending this year’s Global Ham Congress at IFEMA-Feria de Madrid.

The 10th edition is taking place 17-19 September and registration this year includes free entrance also to Meat Attraction, the leading trade fair for the meat sector.

Congress President Julio Tapiador is promising an “engaging” conference programme aimed not only at professionals in the sector, but at consumers, gourmands and lovers of Serrano and Ibérico ham as well. “The presentations offered at the congress deal with topics such as sales, national and international marketing, nutrition, and the social impact of this food, among others,” Tapiador said.

The congress will include a formal dinner on 18 September and, for those who cannot attend all three days, a half-congress registration is available.

A cultural itinerary has been put together for registered visitors with the aim of providing a pleasant visit to some of the most emblematic sites in the city of Madrid for the accompanying companions of congress-goers.

The full schedule of events is yet to be confirmed, but various presentations are already available to view here. Confirmed speakers include scientists from the majority of European cured ham research centres, as well as experts in other areas such as promotion and sales.

Previously, the congress has been hosted in Ourique (Portugal) and Toulouse (France) since its first edition in Cordoba in 2001. The previous iteration was held in Toledo in 2017.

Over 400 business owners and 150 researchers are again expected to attend the congress.
