Events agency MCI has released its 2017 annual sustainability report, which highlights the important role that environmentally friendly and inclusive policies play in their business.
CEO Sebastien Tondeur opened the report by saying: “What started as a small Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme has blossomed to become a core pillar of the MCI culture and brand. Sustainability is now part of our business strategy, our client value proposition and our daily operations.”
The company says its three priorities are people, planet and profit, and it hopes with these to adhere closely to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs provide a pathway towards ending poverty, fighting inequality and tackling climate change by 2030.
To achieve these goals, MCI says it has adopted what they refer to as the ‘MCI sustainability approach’ – six key steps that guide day-to-day thinking and work. They include integration – embedding sustainability into operations rather than simply adding them on – and engagement. This means establishing an open dialogue with stakeholders, and inspiring them to help make a change.
MCI have organised 26 events around sustainability in 2017, and highlight the importance these events have played in local communities. Vice president of people & culture Joelle Zumwald said: “Our dream for the future is that sustainability becomes part of our DNA. That our talents feel empowered to take the lead when it comes to sustainability…taking actions that make a difference.”
The company has reduced its carbon emission intensity by 20% since 2010.
