MA Exhibitions buys dental event

MA Exhibitions, the exhibition arm of media company Mark Allen Group (MAG) has expanded its event portfolio with the acquisition of Dental Showcase from the British Dental Industry Association (BDIA) for an undisclosed sum.

Under the terms of the deal, the BDIA has agreed to continue to work alongside the organiser as the official professional partner for Dental Showcase.

Ed Tranter, managing director of MA Exhibitions, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have concluded the deal for this flagship event. It represents a great opportunity for the group and sits well within our existing exhibitions growth strategy and our magazine portfolio including Dental Update, The Dentist and Dental Nursing published by George Warman Publications.

“In the last three years we have seen our large scale events business grow by over 600 per cent by focusing entirely on organic growth through launches and event contract wins. This year has seen a step change as we continue to drive the business forward with acquisitions.”

First launched in the 1930’s, the 17,000sqm dental trade exhibition, which alternates between NEC and ExCeL London, attracts more than 12,000 visitors.

Ben Allen, CEO of MAG, commented: “Dental Showcase is a major part of our strategy in developing our events business, which has been going from strength to strength over the last few years. We will continue to look at opportunities both in the UK and overseas to further build this exciting area of the group.”

The news follows MAG’s acquisition of Industry Dynamics in July – a cluster of eight international confex events involved in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food and packaging.
