Worlddidac Asia 2016 moves to downtown Hong Kong

Educational resources trade show and conference Worlddidac Asia will have a new home when it returns to Hong Kong in 2016, organisers confirmed.

The show’s seventh edition will be staged at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 7-9 June.

In 2015, the three-day conference and exhibition, which showcased the latest technology and products for education, attracted 5,955 visitors from 35 countries to Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo, including former Australian prime minister Julia Gillard (pictured). Attendees included non-government organisations, education organisations, public and private schools.

A spokesperson for organiser Worlddidac Association told EW the association was satisfied with its 2015 attendance, but wanted a change after bringing the event to Hong Kong for the first time.

“We knew that a venue in downtown Hong Kong would be very appreciated among international exhibitors and visitors as well as local visitors,” a spokesperson said. “Hong Kong has so much to offer and we want to make sure that our visitors also have the time to discover the city and find the way to us conveniently.”

Worlddidac 2016 will address three education opportunities in Asia: vocational education and training; early childhood education; and education IT solutions.

"Hong Kong has a very active education community as it strives to become a centre for excellence and the new number one education hub in Asia," a spokesperson said. "It is also the gateway to the large Chinese market with many private schools, while offering excellent transportation and infrastructure facilities."

The event will be co-located with the seventh edition of high-profile education conference the Asia Education Leaders Forum (AELF). It will also complement the second Education Partnership Forum (EPF), a networking platform for school-to-school collaboration.
